Welcome

Thank you for your interest in the OnBoard programme.

OnBoard exists to support talented and capable individuals who have faced economic and/or social challenges in the past and are now in their first ten years of working life.

The programme aims to enhance their board-level competencies and confidence through training, mentoring and exposure to board opportunities. Together, we want to build better governance, increased representation and greater diversity of perspective on boards for the benefit of wider society.

We are back with our sixth cohort and are currently looking for candidates from these backgrounds who are looking to take on a board role or have recently done so. We will only be accepting 8-12 people into this cohort of the programme.

This programme has been co-designed and developed by OnBoard co-founders Elizabeth Mohr and Kenny Imafidon.
Please note: this registration form takes on average 5-10 minutes to complete.

This online application form closes at 11.59pm on Wednesday 18 March 2026.

Participants will be expected to commit to all of the following:

Evening workshops
You will have six interactive workshops, 2 in person in London and 4 on Zoom. The workshops are compulsory, please make sure that you can attend all of them before applying.

Workshop dates:
  • Workshop 1 - 21 Apr 2026: 6:30pm-9pm (In person)
  • Workshop 2 - 19 May 2026: 6pm-8pm (Virtual)
  • Workshop 3 - 16 Jun 2026: 6pm-8pm (Virtual)
  • Workshop 4 - 21 Jul 2026: 6pm-8pm (Virtual)
  • Workshop 5 - 8 Sep 2026: 6pm-8pm (Virtual)
  • Workshop 6 - 6 Oct 2026: 6:30pm-9pm (In person)
We will pay reasonable expenses for anyone travelling to the in person workshops from outside of London. For the virtual workshops you will need access to Zoom as they will be interactive as opposed to lecture style.

Depending on the content for each workshop, there will be some pre and post-reading and homework (it should take no longer than 3 hours per session).

Mentoring
At the start of the programme, you will be matched with two different mentors:
  • one who is an experienced board member and
  • one who is an experienced recruiter in this space.
We estimate that you will spend at least one hour together with each mentor in between each workshop (a total of 10 hours) but this could be longer, depending on how you and your mentors choose to work together.

Evaluation
We will be collecting your feedback throughout the programme so that we can continuously adapt and improve. At the end of the programme we will ask you for a more formal evaluation which will help us to shape future programmes.

If, at any point during the programme, you have suggestions for improvement, then we would love to hear these.

In addition, there will be opportunities for networking during the programme and we will be providing visibility of potential board and trustee roles. Whilst it won’t be compulsory to participate in these, we hope that everyone will want to!
